Greg Peters
Roles: Speaker
Themes: Culture & Belonging, Sport, Motivational, Leadership, Resilience
Greg Peters has spent close to 30 years at the heart of professional sport - leading organisations, navigating change and helping shape rugby and rugby league in New Zealand and around the world.
Most recently, Greg served as Chief Executive of New Zealand Rugby League from 2018 to 2026, leading the organisation through a significant period of transformation. During his tenure, NZRL returned to profitability, strengthened relationships across government, commercial partners and the rugby league community, and introduced a new national strategy spanning grassroots and high-performance sport.
Before NZRL, Greg was Chief Executive of SANZAAR, overseeing Super Rugby and The Rugby Championship, before moving to Argentina as Chief Executive of Unión Argentina de Rugby, where he helped introduce the Jaguares into Super Rugby.
Earlier in his career, Greg led Wellington Rugby and the Hurricanes, held senior roles at New Zealand Rugby, including Deputy Chief Executive, and led Bay of Plenty Rugby Union. Having worked across New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and South America, Greg brings a unique perspective on leadership, culture, governance and change. His approach has also been shaped by a deeper understanding of Te Ao Māori and Pasifika cultures, and the importance of identity, whānau and belonging within organisations.
Greg speaks openly about leadership, organisational change, commercial sustainability and the realities of modern sport. His sessions are practical and thoughtful, combining decades of experience with lessons on people, culture, performance and what it takes to lead through change.
