Honey Hireme-Smiler is a triple international, representing New Zealand in rugby league, rugby sevens and rugby union — and a respected leader in women’s sport.

Raised in Putaruru, Honey describes herself as a self-confessed “punk kid” who eventually turned a corner and committed fully to her sport. That decision set her on a path that would lead to an 18-year international career defined by passion, discipline and resilience. In recognition of her contribution to sport, she was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.

Today, Honey continues to give back to the sporting community. She works as a Senior Disability Sport Advisor with the Halberg Foundation, is a presenter with Sky Sport, and contributes through coaching, mentoring and ambassador roles at school, community and international levels.

On stage, Honey shares more than just sporting highlights. She speaks candidly about setbacks, personal growth and the character-building lessons that shaped her journey. Her presentations blend energy with reflection, offering audiences insight into leadership, resilience and the power of choosing a different path.

Honey’s story is one of commitment, courage and the impact of using your platform to uplift others.
