Miriama Kamo (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Mutunga) is one of Aotearoa's most respected broadcasters, writers and advocates, renowned for her ability to connect with audiences through powerful storytelling.

An award-winning journalist, Miriama is the former host of TVNZ's flagship current affairs programme Sunday and Māori current affairs programme Marae. Today, she co-hosts The Elephant podcast alongside Mark Crysell, exploring the stories and issues shaping New Zealand.

Beyond broadcasting, Miriama is a passionate advocate for social and environmental change. She is Patron of the Kiwibank NZer of the Year Awards, where she has helped strengthen the awards through a partnership approach honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and by creating lasting support networks for recipients. She is also Patron of Community Foundations Bay of Plenty and Envirohub Bay of Plenty, and an ambassador for Community Foundations NZ and Pillars.

A passionate champion of te reo Māori, Miriama co-founded the charity Kotahi Rau Pukapuka, which aims to publish 100 books in te reo Māori for older readers and learners. She is also an accomplished children's author, with her acclaimed Matariki series recognised through numerous Storylines honours and New Zealand Book Awards nominations.
