Karen O’Leary
Roles: Speaker, MC
Themes: Diversity & Inclusion, Lifestyle & Wellbeing, Politics & Advocacy
Karen O’Leary is a naturally funny, warm, and highly engaging MC and speaker who has a knack for putting any room at ease - and keeping it there.
After more than 20 years as an early childhood educator, she’s completely at ease handling unpredictable situations, big personalities, and the occasional chaos — skills that translate surprisingly well to corporate events. She knows how to read a room, keep things moving, and make sure everyone feels included and entertained along the way.
Karen first won audiences over in the cult-classic film What We Do in the Shadows, created by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement. Her scene-stealing turn as Officer O’Leary led to the hit TV series Wellington Paranormal, now enjoyed in over 70 countries around the world, including on HBO Max in the US.
She’s since become a familiar face on New Zealand screens, winning Best Presenter: Entertainment at the 2023 NZ Television Awards for her work as Community Reporter on Paddy Gower Has Issues — a role that shows off her natural curiosity, empathy, and ability to connect with just about anyone.
As an MC and speaker, Karen brings humour, heart, and a relaxed confidence that makes events feel easy, enjoyable, and genuinely memorable.
