Sione Faumuina’s story is one of talent, hard lessons and ultimately personal accountability.

The former NRL star was described as having the potential to become one of the greatest rugby league players New Zealand had ever produced. But talent alone wasn’t enough. Poor decisions, a lack of self-awareness and waiting for others to lead ultimately cost him his career.

What followed was a period of deep reflection and change.

Drawing on his lived experience and the lessons learned through adversity, Sione rebuilt his life with a focus on self-leadership, discipline and personal responsibility. Today, he works with leaders and teams across corporate organisations, sport and education, helping them understand how standards, mindset and daily behaviours shape performance.

As a New Zealand-born Samoan and former professional athlete, Sione brings a powerful cultural perspective alongside practical leadership insights. His work blends personal experience with evidence-based research to help individuals take ownership of their energy, their mindset and their impact.

Through his Legacy Method framework, Sione helps teams build resilience, accountability and high-performance cultures grounded in reflection and continuous growth.

On stage, Sione is honest, direct and deeply relatable. His presentations challenge audiences to confront the gap between potential and standards — and to take ownership of the choices that shape their future.
