Themes: Lifestyle & Wellbeing, Motivation, Sports
Jemarl Paerata is a motivational mentor and the founder of Te Kaiarahi, where he helps individuals reconnect with purpose, community and the natural world through the principles of Te Ao Māori.
Before beginning this work, Jemarl spent 20 years as a professional firefighter — a career that exposed him to intense pressure, trauma and the darker realities of frontline service. Over time, those experiences took their toll and led him into a difficult period in his own life, including struggles with alcohol and hitting rock bottom.
Through reflection, reconnecting with culture and nature, and a commitment to personal growth, Jemarl began rebuilding his life and discovering a new sense of purpose.
Today, through Te Kaiarahi, he works with individuals and communities to help people find direction, resilience and deeper connection — drawing on Māori values, lived experience and practical tools for personal growth.
On stage, Jemarl shares his journey with honesty and humility, offering powerful insights into resilience, identity and the importance of reconnecting with what truly grounds us.
